Work and Purses
Life has been so crazy over the last couple of months, and even though one would think I have tons of time now to sit down and blog, it has been the complete opposite. As of right now, I am six months away from my wedding day, and have been working on that at full speed while juggling life at the marketing agency Black Koi 360.
Around August of last year, my boyfriend and I decided I should go independent and open an agency here in Mexico City. For the past few months we worked closely with a legal consulting agency creating all their corporate identity, and now remodeling their office. After that, we got hit up the biggest ornamental plant wholesaler in the country…and even though things were looking pretty good because of the size of the project, getting 83 associates to agree is taking longer than expected.
And as of last week, we got a call from Merida, Yucatan to fly in every month to rebuild the brand from the ground up. It’s one hell of a challenge, but it definitely has me excited. I leave this coming monday before the sun even comes up, and will be out till the end of the week.
So today, I headed over to Antara to get a few things that I needed for the trip (Bliss lemon+sage body wash, I love you!), I made one last stop before heading home. Since I moved to Mexico City I fell in love with Purificacion Garcia, and boy, they didn’t let me down today. Their new line is to die for with bright and bold colors and many new styles. Personally, I fell in love with a small long-strap purse that I knew would be perfect for Merida and moving around in the airports. When I went with Goose to another store so he could see it, we found this beauty and he bought it as an early birthday week.

It is tan with a hot pink flap which will go perfect with the bright wardrobe I’m putting together for the summer. Tomorrow I start packing my bag and prepare for the first of many trips to the Yucatan Peninsula.

McFancy…day 251
We all know how big, actually how HUGE fashion has become over the last few years. With Fashion Week growing more and more, it was only a matter of time until someone thought of doing something like this. That someone was The Cool Hunter who approached Amy Moss, a graphic designer turned professional style blogger from Melbourne, Australia (you can check out her work at Eat Drink Chic).
The concept was to give McDonalds food a complete makeover and re-brand the fast food giant with an aesthetic suitable for a 5 star restaurant. Moss designed packaging that incorporated familiar high-end-fashion branding and worked with photographer Marija Ivkovic to create the shots here shown.
Some of the brands seeing here are Burberry, Gucci, D&G, Chanel, Hermes and Paul Smith.

Fashion’s Night Out…day 250
The day finally arrived and I couldn’t have been any happier to live in this great city. Tonight Vogue México hosted the first Fashion’s Night Out at the most important shopping centers in the Mexican capital and luxury boutiques on Masaryk—our version of Rodeo Drive.
Jay and I headed to Antara Fashion Hall at 8 and enjoyed a few glasses of champagne at Zara while we waited for Goose to arrive. We then headed to Brooks Brothers where they were offering barber services using Kiehl’s products along with complimentary Chivas scotch.
Afterwards, we headed to Kiehl’s for Jay to purchase a few shaving products, but couldn’t help stopping by Merry Cupcakes to try their chocolate cupcakes and fondant covered vanilla cupcakes. We stopped by one of my favorite, Tous. This one has become one of my musts since I discovered their beautiful jewelry about a year ago, but this time the one who fell in love with a ring/band was Goose, who beat me to the purchase line and ordered one his size. I really liked one of their newest shoulder bags and will hopefully e going back to purchase it in a few days. After enjoying some more champagne and laughs compliments of the wonderful folks at Tous, we checked out Purificacion Garcia where I fell in love with yet another handbag. This one was more along the lines of a medium Louis speedy, but made of brown/gray canvas with dark brown leather accents and handles, and a long strap to top it off—Beautiful!
By now we were done with the first level and headed over to Steve Madden on the second floor. For about two months I’ve been trying to buy their black Tsunami boots bit have had no luck getting them, not even online or in the US…and tonight was different. After SM, we decided to check out one more store, Pink, where Goose purchased a beautiful checkered lavender and white long sleeve shirt.
By the time we left Pink, we realized the party at Antara was about to die out—probably because the party bus had picked up everyone and taken them to Masaryk where Tiffany & Co. along with other boutiques were still hosting parties. We decided to call it a night And head home to our pups.
Gracias a Vogue México por una noche de moda y diversión. Que se repita!

Alice inspires Donatella
A few days ago I was checking out the fashion trends for spring 2010, and was surprised to see this season’s Versace line inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I fell in love with the use of color on both dresses and accessories—the handbags are absolutely beautiful!!!
